Getting Started With Trauma Recovery
Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, especially if you’re unsure how to explain what you’re feeling or whether your experiences “count.” Many people contact the Center for Trauma Recovery feeling scared, ashamed, or nervous about what comes next.
You don’t need a diagnosis or a clear explanation to get started. If something in your life feels heavy, disruptive, or hard to manage, that is enough.
Reach Out With Our Therapy Intake Form
Submitting this form sends your information directly to the Center for Trauma Recovery. It is reviewed promptly and securely, and you will hear from Jackie within 48 hours.
The Intake Process
When you contact the Center for Trauma Recovery, you will speak with Jackie or another member of our team. This initial conversation is meant to feel supportive, not clinical or overwhelming.
During this call, we will gently ask:
How you found C4TR or who referred you
Whether you’ve had prior outpatient therapy or higher levels of care, such as inpatient or residential treatment
Basic demographic information, including insurance
Therapy Services for Your Healing and Recovery
We will also talk at a high level about the Trauma-Focused Intensive Outpatient Program and other services. We intentionally avoid getting into heavy details at this stage, as many women feel anxious about commitment. Those conversations are best handled personally and at your pace.
After this conversation, an assessment is scheduled to determine whether the recommended level of care is the right fit. Once the assessment is complete, clinical information is reviewed by the team and a follow-up call is made with next steps and a potential start date.
The Center for Trauma Recovery is highly responsive. In many cases, women are able to begin care within three days of their first call.
Insurance and Payment
C4TR is credentialed with:
Blue Cross Blue Shield
Medicaid
Medicare / Medicaid plans
Self-pay
We also offer superbills, which allow women with high-deductible plans to submit for possible reimbursement through their insurance provider. If you have questions about coverage, we’re happy to talk through them with you.
What to Expect When Beginning Therapy
Many women feel nervous or uncertain when they first start, especially because of the unknown. This is completely normal.
Please know:
You are never required to share before you’re ready
Group settings are designed to feel safe and supportive
Trauma events are not discussed in group sessions
Trauma processing happens privately with your individual clinician
All clinicians are licensed, trauma-trained, and experienced in trauma-focused care. Techniques such as EMDR are only used after conversation and with your full consent. You are always in control of the direction of your sessions.
C4TR serves women who have experienced trauma at some point in their lives. We do not distinguish between “big-T” and “little-t” trauma. If something is having a negative impact on your life, it matters here.
